YAYA’SDREAM

On February 22, 2023, in the Orlando, Florida community of Pine Hills, an armed assailant went on a senseless shooting spree injuring two and, claiming the lives of 3 innocent people. One, was a beloved daughter and aspiring musician.

The second, a beloved son and up and coming news reporter. And, the third; in the safety of her own home, was 9-year-old T’Yonna Judy Marie Major.

A kind hearted, beloved daughter, grand-daughter, and niece; T’yonna was a model student. As a huge fan of Gabby Douglas, she dreamed of being an Olympian, and worked very hard to be the very best that she could be. She was by most accounts, a natural, and destined to make that dream come true.  Her hard work and dedication made her a natural born leader, and she was one of the biggest cheerleaders for her team. And, while being a gymnast was her biggest dream, she also wanted to help the less fortunate, and often gave away her toys to the children in her neighborhood.

She always expressed a strong desire to help the homeless, and genuinely wanted to make the world a better place; a dream that would be tragically, and senselessly taken away from her.

So, in her loving memory, and in honor of her dream, we have begun

The YaYa’s Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the unique circumstances faced by underserved communities.

Knowing that children in these communities are more likely to face hunger, and faced with the harrowing fact that in the US, the leading cause of death among children ages one through 18 involved a firearm; Our mission is to empower and uplift our communities through outreach and building initiatives; addressing key issues such as gun violence, hunger, and homelessness.

We strive to create a safer and more equitable society by fostering positive relationships, providing resources and support, and promoting the growth and development of individuals and our communities, and through our efforts and your support, create a brighter future for us all.”
